Santana Flor da África (1822)
The Brazilian Brig, Santana Flor da África, left Bahia on 2 April 1821 and purchased 228 enslaved people at an unknown port in the Bight of Benin (no date recorded). The captain, Manoel Joaquim de Almeida, sailed the vessel back toward Brazil as intended, when it likely landed at São Salvador da Bahia on 1 January 1822. Only 216 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1822.
