Vigilante (1822)

Voyage Overview

The Brazilian Galera, Vigilante, left Bahia and purchased 246 enslaved people at Ouidah (no date recorded). The captain, João Martins da Costa, sailed the vessel, owned by J. José M. Silva, back toward Brazil as intended, when it likely landed at São Salvador da Bahia on 21 September 1822. Only 243 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1822.
