Amazona (1822)

Voyage Overview

The Brazilian Bergantin, Amazona, left Bahia on 15 April 1822 and purchased 249 enslaved people at Lagos (no date recorded). The captain, Martinho José Batista, sailed the vessel, owned by Antônio José da Rocha, back toward Brazil as intended, when it likely landed at São Salvador da Bahia on 11 November 1822. Only 226 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1822.
