Constituição (1822)
Voyage Overview
The Brazilian Schooner, Constituição, left Bahia on 19 July 1822 and purchased 264 enslaved people at an unknown port in the Bight of Benin (no date recorded). The captain, Joaquim Luís de Araújo, sailed the vessel, owned by José de Cerqueira Lima, back toward Brazil as intended, when it likely landed at São Salvador da Bahia on 30 November 1822. Some 263 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1822.
