The Brazilian Schooner, Zepherina, left Bahia on 2 May 1828 and purchased 218 enslaved people at Ouidah by 13 September 1828. The undocumented captain sailed the vessel, owned by João de Souza Paraíso, toward Brazil when Captain Thomas Saville Griffenhoofe of the HMS Primrose captured the vessel somewhere off the coast of West Africa. The British and Spanish Court Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone condemned this vessel and registered 153 Liberated Africans by 9 December 1828. For more information, see Map of 1828.
