Alerta (1825)

Voyage Overview

The Spanish Brigantine, Alerta, left Cadiz on 13 July 1824 and purchased 501 enslaved people at Ouidah (no date recorded). The captain, Antonio Echevarria, sailed the vessel, owned by Miguel Arzopardo, back toward Cuba as intended, when it likely landed in Havana in August 1825. Only 450 people survived the Middle Passage. For more information, see Map of 1825.
